Who says there is no color in California autumn? You just have to know where to look...

The black oaks (Quercus kelloggii) are shedding their summer clothes again. They hide amongst the live oaks, sneaky-like all summer, and then pow! They suddenly change and you know they are there again.

So pretty! Reminds me of Little House on the Prairie for some reason.

Beautiful Autumn capture Julia. I'd love to sit down in the middle of that field with a glass of wine and take in all the sights, sounds and smells of Autumn!

We don't get a lot of change up here either. Like you said, you just have to know where to look, but it's mostly green turning to wet green.

Lovely! I grew up a place without much fall color, but here it's sooo gorgeous. (hopefully the ice storm last year won't have done too much damage to the colors) My favorite are the red maples! Especially the really big old ones, because they change in such beautiful waves of color. I've got a few in my yard that I planted when we moved in and some in the field that started on their own that I'm hoping will start being spectacular soon. :-D

Ah fall! *sighs happily*

I live in deep south Texas, an area known as the Rio Grande Valley, by the Gulf Coast. We don't get to see much of the autumn leave. Your pictures are beautiful.

I love fall. The trees have just started turning around here (Montana). Can't wait for the big show in a couple weeks.

Pretty! No fall here yet. It is supposed to hit 100 this weekend. However, that is not stopping my horses from growing a winter coats. Looks like body clip #1 is going to have to happen soon.

It's really beautiful. We don't have much fall here yet and I'm not sure the colors will be so amazing this year because it's been so dry. Still and all, it's my favorite time of year. Thanks for sharing your lovely photo.

The Day the Swallows Came Home

The tree swallows are here already.  They arrived January 30 much to my dismay.  Swooping and calling and chirping their merry song over my ...
