I walked out to feed the horses this morning and found a bloody kneed Max-horse. He's a frisky guy and probably fell down or was so rowdy that Sharpie finally laid him out one. It takes A LOT to get Sharpie to kick so if he did so, Max had it coming.
But now there are stitches in Max's knee and he is in lock down for two long, agonizing, miserable, gut wrenching weeks.
Question of the Day:
What does a carrot sees before it dies?
Answer:
What does a carrot sees before it dies?
Answer:
This is Max's expensive leg wrapped up all pretty-like.
Max likes to walk in his stall. He does not like confinement. Not that horses should like to be locked in a 12 x 12 cage, but he handles it worse than most equines. In fact, he is an Einstein horse and has developed strategies to escape from his prison.
Video to come...
The suspense builds.

YOU LIE! YOU. DID . NOT. have the same one I did.
We are soul mates.
I AM ALWAYS on the lookout for my little car reincarnate. I've only seen a few. Mine died in Cuba NY. The cheese capital of the world or something. :)
LOL
Thank you for stopping by! I love the carrot death pic. :)
Dearie, what mischief are ye getting into NOW??? Blaming poor olde Max, when I bet the real culprit is hiding behind a keyboard and wearing an apron...yr always up to something...
MOI??? Never!!! At least when it comes to the horses, I am an angelic saint of patience and kindness, Penniwig!!!! No tomfoolery here, No Maim'
Poor Max. :(
Even with carrots, Max will not take his confinement, eh? Poor Max. I am dying to see the video....
And I can't wait until next Thursday...I don't know which apron or what story, but I will think of something. Somehow!
Poor horsie. I am very sorry he is hurt.
The goats don't like to be in their pens either....
It's a little hard to tell from the names alone, but is Max a stallion, and Sharpie a mare? I once saw an old Clydesdale stallion so stove up from a lifetime of being kicked in the shins that he could hardly walk any more. The breeder kept him in service, though. Some people! I'll tell ya.
It looks like Max's wound is high enough that proud flesh won't be an issue.
And speaking of carrots, try tying carrots from long swinging strings from the roof rafters for him. That should help keep him entertained in his stall confinement for a while anyway. When he gets those figured out, try new and innovative carrot puzzles for your young Einstein to figure out.
Good luck.
Gray Egg-Thank goodness Max is NOT a stallion. He would be insufferable. Sharpie is his pasture buddy. He's a kind, gentle, very tolerant type of horse. Max is probably a very bad "room mate."
I LOVE the carrot dangling idea! I will definitely incorporate.
Max sends every body his thanks for your sympathy!!
Awww poor Max! I hope he is better soon so you can let him out of the evil stall of doom.
I heard a new strategy this weekend. Always keep at least $1 on your vet bill because as soon as you pay it off something is darn to happen. I am going to have to try that. Hope Max heals up quick and doesn't go too crazy being cooped up!
Poor baby. Confined and bandaged. At least he has carrots to sooth him. And poor you too. You really have had the vet bills and I know how expensive that can be.
Loved your new side bar widget with a change is in the air.
Oh that stinks! I hate when things come up just at the time when there really isn't any money to spare! Hope Max heals fast so he can run and frolic!
I'm glad I'm not a carrot!
Oh, poor Max! i hope he heals soon, poor boy! These horses!!! Gilly fell in the road last week and got a fat lip, he is pretty much healed. Poor Max will take longer to heal.
Love the carrot pictures!
hugs to Max!

Long horse face for sure!
Hope Max heals quickly. I've been kicked by a horse before. Those horses know how to aim.
What a handsome boy! He looks like a handful!
awe, poor horsey!
Yikes and I thot horses were the gentlest. I hope he recovers fast though. Poor Max.
You guys are having too much fun here! :) I just found you, we have a lot in common, suicidal horses and all. Hope he heals quick. My mare and I took a long difficult ride up the mountain, came home unharmed then she hurt herself eating grass out of the YARD of all places.
